Recent wines tasted
Following is a selection of some of the wines that we have tasted over the last few days.
Le Sentinelle Risverva 2001
Morellino di Scansano
Mantellassi
This was one of the wines we brought back from our summer hols in Italy. This one is from a region in the south of Tuscany near the sea. A bright red wine seemed really bursting out of the glass. Fruity and open. Very approachable and easy drinking for a Sangiovese dominated wine. I know it is blened with other grapes,Cab Sauvignon and Caniolo Nero but the more southern climate, but more exposed and higher. If I remember rightly it is very windy up in these hills and seem to produce a lighter easier wine. Good. 8/10.
Cote du Montpezat 2002
Cotes de Castillon
Bordeaux
This wine wee picked up from a bin end sale in GB over in Belgium. We only paid 4 euros and it is an area of Bordeaux that I hadn't tasted before and I have to say I was impressed. It is a very approachable ready to drink wine and while there are some tannins they were mild. There was no hint of greenness but instead a good juicey blackcurrent. Good.8.5/10.
